Shape shifting in Laura Tolomei’s world
It’s an experience to be lived for sure and not of your usual kind. Unlike many other shape shifting stories, mine focuses on the connection between the shifters and a special person without whom no shift can take place. And their connection must run as deep as it can get in order for it to work. So the sex between Ilenio and Lord Brahany is intense because it touches their souls, not just their bodies, just like the head talking that allows them to communicate even when one is in its eagle form.
But the story also has the traits of a horror-mystery because it’s set in medieval times approximately around the time of Dracula, which is also the source of my inspiration. In fact, I crafted it around the time I visited Dracula’s castle, or what’s believed to be it, in Romania, and the its dark allure got to me so fast I couldn’t wait to set it on paper. So here it is!
